| Note* | She was the daughter of Edward Stringer and Frances Blackstone. Frances was the daughter of James Blackstone and Elizabeth Hilsman. Edward was born abt. 1698/72 possibly in York Co., VA. He died in 1778 in Caswell Co., NC where he left a will. Frances died in Louisa Co., VA abt. 1752. She was in a deed just before 1752 but not in one made in 1752 so believe she died before that. These are deeds in Louisa Co., VA where Edward deeded land to Frances, and her sister, Elizabeth, and her brother Edmond. After Frances' death Edward remarried to Judith (last name not known). They later migrated into Caswell Co., NC where Edward died (will probated 1779). He named Frances in his will. Frances Stringer, Via Edde was a sister or half sister to my G/G/G/Grandfather Reuben Stringer. I have never been able to determine which of Edward's wives was Reuben's Mother but am leaning toward Frances Blackstone. I have been told and have seen other sources that say this line of Stringers came from Ireland into VA then to NC. Frances married 1. David Viers, Via (I have found it spelled both ways). David died in 1766 in Augusta Co., VA leaving Frances with children David, Gideon, Elizabeth, Mildred, and Robert Via. Frances remarried to John Edde abt. 1773 in Augusta Co., VA. The Edde children I have are Frances, Margaret, Samuel, William, Joseph, Charles, Albert, John, Clara A., and James. I do not know if all of the Edde children were by Frances or if John Edde had been previously married. Frances was in a deed dated 1791 and was not in one dated 1799 so it is believed she died between those dates. (From an email by Peggy Stringer Lester.) |
