Baptism: Scots Ancestry Research Society: "The old parochial registers of St. Fergus and of Strichen were next searched for the birth of John Smith, between 1753 and 1776, and his birth was found to have been recorded, in both these parishes, as follows:- In St. Fergus: "21 December 1754. Andrew Smith, Mason late in Kinloch now at Strichen had a son baptized at Strichen called John. Witnesses John Anderson and James Smith." In Strichen: "21 December 1754. Andrew Smith and Elspet Penny in Chapelhill had a son named John baptized witnesses John Boggie and James Smith in Newhill." |
