You are such a wonderful help. I have PAF but can download Gedcom files into it. What did Montgomeryt County NY used to be? Where is Fonda NY? I loved seeing Ezekiel Shelp's grave but it raises many questions. My Ezekiel Shelp was born in 1832 8th of 9 sons of John and Abigail (Wallbridge Shelp of Jessup Township. From family stories I know that he apprenticed to several dentists and became a dentist himself. I found him in the 1850 census listed as 19 years old and living with a dentist named Dr. Whiteash (sp.) of Towanda township in Bradford County PA. Fortunately or unfortunately, there is another record of Ezekiel Shelp age 20 living in the Towanda Hotel in that same census. Is it the same Ezekiel recorded twice or a different Ezekiel Shelp. Our Ezekiel Shelp died 22 Oct 1900 in St. Louis Missouri and is buried in the Gregory plot at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis. (Mrs. Frank Gregory was his daughter in law's mother.) Our Ezekiel was married to Harriet M. Smith of Wilkes Barre. They had 3 children, Carolyn Louise, Williard Bailey (my great great grandfather) and Victor L. In the 80's my mother and step-father were really into geneology and when my stepfather died in 1991, my mother printed a book of Moseley-Shelp Family. I have attached pages about our Ezekiel Shelp. Any ideas about this? I'm confused. Thanks again for all your help. I will enjoy hearing from you. Sheila Shelp Graham (ShyGra's Chihuahuas)

Ezekial Shelp was a Pennsylvania farm boy who became a dentist practising his profession for more than 40 years in Wilkes Barre, Wilmington Delaware, and St Louis, MO. Both of his sons became dentists too. He was born in 1832 8th son of John Shelp and Abbigail Wallbridge of Jessup township, Susquenhanna County, PA. An uncle, Henry Shelp was a director of the first Board of Education.

When he was 18 years old, he was working for 36 year old John Whiteash a Scottish born dentist who lived in Towanda in easterm Bradford County. Listed as a laborer. Living in a Towanda Hotel. Some 8 years later he was married to 28 year old Harriet M. Smith of Wilkes Barre born on 4-28-1829. The 1860 census of Luzern County showed him to be quite well off with real and personal property of $6000 and an Irish housemaid. One child, Caroline Louise, age 1. They also had 2 sons.Willard Baily Shelp born February 29, 1862 and Victor L. Shelp born Jan 1869. Both in Wilkes Bare.

Resided in Wilmington Delaware 1870 to 1878. Listed himself as E. Shelp or even Edward. Presumeably didn't like Ezekial. Then moved to St. Louis. Willard and Victor ran the Shelp Bridge and Tooth Crown Company.

Carolyn Louise was a school teacher and married on 9-14-93 to Dr. Michael Pinckney Morell a well known St. Louis physcian. Son Loris Pinckney Morell and daughter Helenice Louise.
